We All Made It
Friday could not have arrived soon enough.
The heat continued its slow, all-directional cooking from morning to evening, indifferent as ever to how anyone felt about it. But we made it through — all of us — and there was a quiet, shared satisfaction in that as the final session ended and the week released its grip.
A quick shower, a small group, a taxi, a local bar. Nothing elaborate. Nobody had the energy for elaborate. The night was subdued in the particular way that only genuine collective exhaustion can produce — warm and easy, but with the edges softened by a week that had taken more than it gave. We let off what steam remained and called it done.
The weekend asks very little of me, which is exactly what I need from it. Not much of anything, apart from a final day of filming on Sunday, which I find myself genuinely looking forward to.
It has been a testing week. Strange in ways I am still processing, hard in ways I didn't fully anticipate. The reset is needed and I intend to take it properly — without guilt, without the usual quiet pressure to be doing something more.
Next week will be hotter. That much is already known, and there is no point pretending otherwise. All I can do is meet it the way this week eventually taught me to — focused on the work, looking for the joy inside it, moving forward with whatever I have available on any given day.
The week is over. For now, that is enough
