Problem Found, Problem Solved
Today was everything I hoped it could be, and it left me smiling more than I expected. In the end, like most problems I let grow too large in my own head, it was solved with a short, honest conversation. Expectations spoken, heard, and acted on, and the relief that followed felt out of proportion to how small the actual issue turned out to be.
Moments like this, seen from a small distance, remind me there's still a long road ahead, and maybe no fixed destination at the end of it. Maybe the walking itself is the entire point, finding some small light in even the darkest corners of what I'm doing here.
The best part was how quickly it arrived, and how much more it gave me than I'd hoped for. My coach called me into the middle of training and simply said, "Show me Tai Chi 9." So I did. I moved through the form while Louis stopped me wherever needed, correcting habits that had quietly settled over two years of practice. Piece by piece, the small flaws surfaced and got fixed on the spot. It was genuinely fun, exactly the shape I've been hoping this review would take.
Problem found. Problem solved.
He left me to keep practising, and I did exactly that for the next hour, working through the form with whatever small piece of knowledge I'd just been handed.
I feel lucky to have found such a clean resolution to something that was never as large as I'd made it. The lesson underneath it all was simple: communicate, listen, practise. The knowledge gained wasn't much in volume, but it was exactly the right amount, just enough to keep the curiosity alive, enough reason to keep showing up, keep practising, and let the rest settle in on its own schedule.
Life never stops surprising me.
I've come to believe you generally get what you ask for, which puts a new spin on the old warning about being careful what you wish for. I asked, and I got it, and today I couldn't be happier for it. The smallest things seem to carry the most weight these days. I never expected life to look like this. But this version of it fits me in a way I'm only just beginning to understand.
