A Well-Worn Path
The rain came down hard enough today to send everyone hunting for an indoor space to train, which always brings its own small complications. I woke with a busy mind and didn't have the appetite for crowds on top of it, so I took myself to the café instead, working through some photos that still needed finishing for the business.
It went smoothly. But once they were all done and I finally sat back to look at them properly, something in me went a little numb. I didn't love the look we'd settled on. It felt like we'd stepped onto a well-worn path toward something currently popular, and popular, more often than not, doesn't age well. I have a feeling this will all need redoing before too long.
I closed the laptop around six and went to train, which was exactly what the day needed. Good to move after so many hours folded into a chair. The session was easy, unhurried, the kind that lets the mind settle back into the body without any real effort involved.
The day ended the way most do, a good book, then sleep. But as I drifted off, the photos I don't love kept circling back. I'm not entirely sure why it matters as much as it does. They simply don't feel like me, or like the work I actually want to make. Maybe that discomfort is useful. Maybe it's exactly the signal worth listening to.
Time will tell.
