When the Mind Refuses to Be Still

There is a change in the air.

Mornings now begin with Qigong. Standing meditation finds its way into each session. Evenings settle into quiet rooms and longer periods of stillness.

A different rhythm.

Not difficult in effort… but not easy either.

Sitting still has brought something unexpected.

The mind doesn’t slow.

It moves.

Constantly.

Thoughts arriving without invitation. Some clear, some scattered, some carrying more weight than anticipated. They pass through quickly, but not always lightly.

There’s a lot there.

More than I realised.

The practice becomes simple in instruction. Just watch. Let them come and go.

But simple doesn’t mean easy.

It feels like learning to stand still in the middle of something that doesn’t want to stop moving.

Still, there’s no need to interfere.

Just staying with it seems to be enough for now.

Letting things pass through in their own way.

Later in the day, the feeling shifted.

The body wanted to move.

Fast forms. Energy rising again.

But something about it felt different this time.

More grounded.
More contained.

The same intensity, but without the usual tension around it.

It moved freely.

For a while, everything aligned.

No thought.
No resistance.

Just movement.

And the quiet enjoyment of being inside it.
