Sunday was a shoot day for the StillPath team, and I’m pleased to say it went about as well as it could have. There were moments of friction, but it’s a creative project, so there always will be, and in a way, there should be.
By the end of the day, the project was finished. Now we look ahead to the next jobs as our first retreat draws closer, and then comes the hard part: getting people to go beyond compliments and actually sign up for what we’re offering. I think it’s best to take it one step at a time. I know from experience how difficult that step will be, but I have faith in what we’ve made. It’s only just beginning, and it’s already very good.
I said goodbye to the day with a walk in the park. The same walk I’ve taken so many times before. But as I put one foot in front of the other, a feeling of loss came over me without warning.
I’ll be leaving soon, and the simple pleasures that have put a smile on my face and settled my heart will no longer be part of my days. I suppose it’s normal to feel this, but the weight of today’s walk took me by surprise.
Time moves on, as it always has and always will. It’s the very thing that turns moments into the memories that float in the heart long after they’ve passed.
I plan to spend my last six weeks here drinking in every feeling I can. I know what this place has meant to me. I don’t want to make a huge fuss of it, but I do want to give it the respect it deserves.
When I first set out on this journey, I hoped it would change my life. As it comes to an end, I can say it has.
I just never realised how deeply.
