Survive the Week
To call this week tough would be a vast understatement.
The heat has spiked to something genuinely uncomfortable — the kind that doesn't negotiate, that slows everything and everyone down whether they consent to it or not. The whole school has quietened into a lower gear. People are still trying. They are also simply trying to cope, which at a certain temperature becomes its own full-time occupation.
This is not a week for maximum effort. It is a week for survival — honest, unglamorous, showing-up survival. Nothing heroic. Nothing dramatic. Just training done as well as the conditions allow, leaving the inevitable pool of sweat wherever you happen to pause long enough to notice it.
Every day this week will ask for the same thing: turn up. Move forward. Do the best that is genuinely available, and make peace with the fact that the best available right now is smaller than usual. That is not failure. That is just the weather, and the weather doesn't care what you had planned.
And perhaps that is the real lesson sitting quietly at the centre of all of it. Stop fighting what cannot be fought. The heat will not be reasoned with or outlasted through sheer will. The only honest response is to find a way to be inside it — to accept it for what it is, stop measuring the day against what it might have been in better conditions, and maybe, if possible, find a way to enjoy it.
A battle that cannot be won is not worth the cost of fighting.
The week will pass. It always does.
